An awesome, physical realisation of a music concept from the book, I Miss My Pencil, by Martin Bone and Kara Johnson from IDEO. I really should have made the book required reading.
Martin’s left IDEO now (I think he started his own shop in NYC).

Week 9 photos of models of further refined record players by Camille, Abby, Alex and Darren

Class!
We had a few missing students this week but those that were there kicked ass! Remember we’re not in class next week (Dec 7th) as Crit Week is on. But this only means that you’ve now got two weeks to do your final concept for the FINAL CRIT.
Please read through the homework assignment carefully (see below)
Also, for next week I would like to photograph all your final models (record players AND speakers) so please bring them in. Plus, I’d like to shoot your headshots too!
One more thing: since the work from this class has been so stellar, I’d like a chance to exhibit it in the main hallway of the 12th floor. It won’t be until Feb 14th, 2011.
See you in two weeks, Dec 14th!

HOMEWORK for FINAL CRIT
Part 1—Concept refinement
Produce a full set of 2D, 1:1 scale ORTHOGRAPHIC sketches for your FINAL concept direction, in Rhino (include name, scale, with call outs for colours, materials, finishes)
Part 2—Models
For FINAL concept direction make 1:1 scale model (high resolution, with materials choices applied to model)
Part 3—Storyboard
Show a six panel story board showing your FINAL concept in use by your user. Many students would like to photograph their final models for these storyboard panels. I think this sounds great.
